Note: A person missing from a custody list may have transferred, so disappearance alone never proves an Esmeralda County community release.

Nevada’s Public Records Act requires agency action by the end of the fifth business day under NRS 239.0107. The action may be production, a denial with legal authority, notice that the office lacks the record, or a written estimate of when it will be available. Fees generally may not exceed actual cost under NRS 239.052 and the definition in NRS 239.005. Esmeralda County has not posted a local copy rate, so request an estimate before ordering copies.

NRS Chapter 239 favors public access to nonconfidential records during office hours and supports electronic copies. Confidential content can be redacted when the remaining material can be separated. NDOC calls the portal material raw data rather than an official record. A result can lag, contain a changed estimate, or describe only one booking. The formal confirmation channel is NDOC’s Offender Management Division at omdrecords@doc.nv.gov or PO Box 7011, Carson City, NV 89702. Request the actual release event when a portal label is unclear.
Esmeralda County Recent Release Search
The reviewed county site exposes no official 24-hour list, 72-hour archive, booking roster, release photo gallery, or request portal. Do not stretch a current-custody list from another county into an Esmeralda release source. For a fresh event, note when the Sheriff answers and ask whether the person was released or transferred, the event time, the jail’s release category, the ordering authority, and the receiving agency if public.
A news or social post is only a lead. It may describe arrest while remaining online long after custody ends. The court order explains why release was lawful. The jail entry shows when physical processing happened. Those times can differ. For an older case, begin with the durable court docket, then use its case number and dates in a narrow Sheriff request.
Esmeralda Release Notifications
Nevada S.A.V.E. replaced Nevada VINE in August 2025. It can search people in participating Nevada custody or under supervision. Use a full name or offender ID, complete the CAPTCHA, and compare records with care. When spelling is uncertain, the system suggests the first three letters of the first and last names separated by a space. Data are periodic and are not an official record.
A no-result does not prove release because people no longer in custody may not remain searchable. The system does not replace BOP or ICE tools. Registration may allow SMS, phone, TTY, or account email notices. Current account security uses a password, security question and answer, and chosen methods. Do not follow old instructions telling new users to create a VINE PIN.

Esmeralda Federal Release Records
A federal custody path requires federal tools. The BOP inmate locator can show a release date or “Not in BOP Custody” for a sentenced federal prisoner. That phrase is agency-specific. It does not prove the person is free from U.S. Marshals, state, local, immigration, or community-supervision authority. Older BOP records can also be incomplete.
The ICE Online Detainee Locator searches current immigration detention and keeps released results for about sixty days. “Released” can cover transfer, removal, or release from detention, so request the underlying ICE record when the distinction matters. U.S. Marshals detainees may be placed in local jails, and the Marshals Service does not operate a public nationwide locator. A local departure may thus be a handoff.

Property After Esmeralda Release
Nevada law supplies two practical post-release anchors even though Esmeralda County posts no local property-counter or identification program instructions. Under NRS 211.380, the sheriff must return a released person’s valuables and pay the balance remaining in the person’s individual account. The statute also requires full and accurate accounting. A person who believes something was omitted should contact the Sheriff promptly with the booking identity, release date, and a clear list of the missing property or funds.
NRS 211.2405 permits a sheriff to give eligible people released at term expiration information and reasonable help with acquiring identification when requested, subject to document verification. It does not establish that Esmeralda operates a named local program. Ask the Sheriff whether assistance applies to the specific release and what proof is needed. These duties concern the practical close of a local custody episode, not proof that another hold or supervision term ended.
Esmeralda NDOC Reentry Path
The NDOC Re-Entry Program runs statewide from prison intake through community release, transitional placement, or parole and probation. It may matter when a person sentenced in Esmeralda County later leaves an NDOC institution. It is not evidence of a county-run Esmeralda reentry program, and it does not replace release verification.
For an NDOC case, compare the offender’s public status and release event with any parole decision and approved plan. A parole grant is not physical release. The person must reach eligibility and meet plan requirements. For a county-jail release, ask the Sheriff and court about the local order and any probation terms instead. Keeping those systems separate prevents state services from being attributed to the small Goldfield jail.

Esmeralda County Release Facility
Only one detention facility belongs in the Esmeralda County facility map. Esmeralda County Jail is the local booking and detention point for county arrests and court commitments. It may release a person to the community, place the person on court-ordered conditions or probation, or transfer the person to another jail, NDOC, or a federal or immigration custodian.
No NDOC prison, federal prison, dedicated ICE detention center, municipal jail, or separately branded regional jail was identified inside Esmeralda County. Nevada law allows intercounty transfers, but that does not make neighboring facilities part of the county list. Verify the destination person by person through the local release or transfer entry.
